UnityPoint Clinic and St. Luke’s Hospital is actively recruiting for a Pediatric Nursery Hospitalist to join our team in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

In addition, St. Luke's ranks among the best hospitals in the world in providing NICU care for babies who are 22-23 gestational weeks and up. We provide high frequency ventilation for the smallest babies and provide inhaled nitric oxide for babies with pulmonary hypertension in addition to many other services.

 

  • Join an established Pediatric Hospitalist team of 4 physicians
  • Additional onsite specialist support: Experienced Neonatologists team that will take the ill babies into their care.
  • Schedule is average of 14 * 12 hour shifts per month; Average of 8-10 hours onsite and with home call;
  • Weekends and Holidays on rotation
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination

Responsibilities

  • Rotating with other Pediatric Hospitalist inpatient pediatric care and Newborn Nursery
  • No attendance to deliveries 
  • Average of 15-20 patients per day in the nursery
  • Average of 6-8 pediatric inpatients per day
  • Rounding Newborn Nursery: Admissions and Discharges and Circumcisions
  • Pediatric Hospitalist: Admissions and Discharges, rounding
  • Evaluates, interprets and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
  • Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent work/life balance with flexible scheduling

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Pediatrics
  • Ability to obtain and hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the physician’s field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
