Grundy County Memorial Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital located in Grundy Center, Iowa and is an affiliate of UnityPoint Health – Waterloo. The hospital provides essential 24/7/365 emergency care along with inpatient care. The Specialty Clinic offers access to a variety of specialties that patients might otherwise have to travel to larger cities to receive. In June of 2022, the hospital broke ground on a $31 million building project that includes a Surgery and Imaging addition and Lab expansion, demonstrating the hospital’s commitment to delivering high-quality, local health care. 

 

  • Full-time Emergency Medicine opportunity with flexible scheduling to allow for work life balance
  • Primary practice location is at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, secondary locations are Allen Hospital and Marshalltown Hospital
  • Supportive and collaborative team environment
  • On-site Primary Care Clinic with 3 physicians and 3 APPs who respond to codes and provide support as needed
  • Nurses are specially trained in emergency care for both adults and children, including trauma and resuscitation
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination

Responsibilities

  • Schedule details:
  • Exposure to a variety of practice settings across three hospitals
  • Flexibility to work less than 1.0 FTE, if desired
  • Evaluate, interpret and coordinate information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
  • Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve
  • Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills

 

Practice Locations

 

Grundy Hospital:

    • Level IV trauma center, 25-bed community hospital
    • Emergency Department with 6 beds
    • Average of 6,000 annual visits

Allen Hospital:

    • Level III trauma center, 204-bed hospital
    • Emergency Department with 31 beds
    • Average of 38,000 annual visits

Marshalltown Hospital:

    • Level IV trauma center, 70-bed hospital
    • Emergency Department with 16 beds
    • Average 19,000 annual visits

Qualifications

  • MD or DO
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified in Emergency Medicine or Family Medicine with Emergency Medicine experience
  • ACLS, PALS, ATLS (Certification requirements are waived for EM residency-trained and ABEM/ABOEM certified physicians)
  • Eligible to work in the United States (H1-B cap exempt)
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal license to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate
  • J-1 waiver sponsorship available
