UnityPoint Health - Eyerly Ball Outpatient Clinic is actively recruiting for a Substance Use Disorder Medication Prescriber to join our team in Des Moines, IA.

UnityPoint Health - Eyerly Ball provides outpatient, residential and community mental health services. Responsibilities

  • Act as medication prescriber for all MAT clients.
  • Conduct psychiatric assessments including psychiatric history, course of illness, response to treatment, mental status examination, and DSM V diagnosis an present assessment results.
  • Collaborate with registered nurse in assessment of client physical health, making appropriate referrals to community physicians for further assessment and treatment, and coordinating medical treatments with substance use treatment.
  • Prescribe medications and conduct regular assessment of therapeutic response, side effects and education of clients regarding medications.
  • With other team members, provide support, education, and counseling to help clients, staff, and concerned others become knowledgeable about substance use disorder and addictions.
  • Provide on-site crisis assessment and management of patients during regular work hours.
  • Submit written reports and oral testimony and presentation of opinion in commitment and other legal proceedings in a wide range of treatment, rehabilitative, and support services matters (ie Social Security applications, prior authorizations of medication, etc.)
  • Train staff in the knowledge and skills basic to the treatment for persons with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses to develop, revise, maintain, and supervise team psychopharmacologic and medical treatment and medication policies and procedure.

Qualifications

  • Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner 
  • Board Eligible or Board Certified 
  • Substance Used Disorder programming and Medication Assisted Treatment experience preferred.
  • Hold an unrestricted license to practice in the state of Iowa
  • Eligible to work in the United States
