Blank Children's Hospital, a service of UnityPoint Health - Des Moines, is completely dedicated to meeting the unique health care needs of children. Blank Children's is a 108-bed environment that embraces and encourages families to be a part of their child's healing and recovery. Everything from equipment to decor is designed specifically for children.

 

General

  • Established team of 6 physicians and 1 Advanced Practitioners
  • Established practice serving the Des Moines, Fort Dodge and Cedar Rapids community
  • Opportunity to practice outpatient medicine in an established and well-known clinic
  • Cohesive group of colleagues and supportive staff allowing for autonomy while building the practice according to your preferences
  • Experienced staff, both clinical and non-clinical, who know the patients and the community
  • Full-time position, including dedicated administrative time, with flexible scheduling to ensure sufficient patient access
  • 24/7 hospitalist program is responsible for adult and pediatric inpatients
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination

 

Responsibilities

  • Average of 15-20 patients per day
  • Shared call amongst the providers. Currently 1:8 clinic only – Triaged through Call Center
  • Practice is a mix of inpatient and outpatient
  • Ability to work as a team member to improve the health of the people and communities we serve
  • Specialty skills: Pediatric diabetes management, thyroid disorders, bone and metabolic health, endocrine medication management, and adrenal and pituitary disorders.
  • Evaluates, interprets and coordinates information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
  • Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Will do outreach clinic in rotation of providers

Qualifications

Advanced Practitioners

  • Nurse Practitioner or Physician Associate
  • Board Certified
  • 2 years of experience preferred
  • Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States
