UnityPoint Health – Sioux City delivers a broad range of advanced healthcare services to residents across Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota. Through our two hospitals, UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s and UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s – Downtown, as well as the June E.   • Benefit-eligible, full-time position
  • Opportunity to provide comprehensive psychiatric care for adult patients in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting, while also performing behavioral health consultations for patients of all ages in the Emergency Department and on medical floors
  • Join a collaborative and experienced team of three APPs as the fourth provider supporting behavioral health services
  • Daily collaboration with nursing, therapy, social work, and physician leadership through a multidisciplinary care model
  • Fully integrated system with clinics and hospitals on EPIC EMR to improve care coordination

Responsibilities

  • Full-time position working seven 12-hour shifts (84 hours) per pay period, with a flexible, provider-driven scheduling model
  • Day shift schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM
  • Rotating weekend and holiday coverage shared among providers
  • No call responsibilities
  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary rounds and collaborate with nursing, therapy, social work, and physician leadership to develop and implement treatment plans
  • Manage an average daily census of approximately 10 adult behavioral health inpatients
  • Perform behavioral health consultations in the Emergency Department and on medical floors, averaging 2-3 consults per day
  • Complete court-related documentation and assessments as required
  • Utilize telepsychiatry support resources when additional consultation coverage is needed
  • Evaluate, interpret and coordinate information to make decisions and recommendations regarding patient care
  • Patient-focused, friendly and willing to collaborate in a team environment
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), analytical and problem-solving skills

Qualifications

  • Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) certification required
  • Adult inpatient psychiatric provider experience preferred
  • BLS certification required
  • Hold an unrestricted medical license in the state of Iowa
  • Hold current and unrestricted state and federal authority to prescribe and administer medications as necessary or appropriate to the Advanced Practitioners field of practice
  • Eligible to work in the United States
